duchess_of_pie1) What was your FIRST video game console?
intellivision. i still have it. it still works. the keypad/touchdisk controllers win hands down as the worst controllers of all time!
2) Name a few games you played on said console.
frogger, space invaders, burgertime, and advanced dungeons and dragons were my favorites.
3) Excluding handhelds, how many VG consoles do you own presently?
i'm going to say 5. the aforementioned intellivision, N64, and an original region-free playstation i got in korea that doesn't like to sync up anymore. out here i have a gamecube (that is actually rob's, but i've probably put more milage on it than he ever had), and gabe's got a PS2.
(handhelds include 3 gameboys...a pocket, a color, and a DS.)
4) Were you a Street Fighter nut? Any character in particular?
no.
5) Do you think Capcom is a F---ING awesome company with kickass character designs?
i think they're alright, nothing spectacular. mostly still forms on a nicely detailed background. meh.
6) Here's the scenario.. You had some friends over and you all ate FRIED CHICKEN! After the meal you all decide to play some video games. As your friend reaches for a controller you notice his/her hands are very "greasy." Are you the type that would insist they wash their hands before pawing the controller, or is it no big deal?
i will probably insist in a passive-agressive way, like handing them a wetwipe or saying, "you'd better go to the bathroom now, 'cause i'm not letting you up if we start this."
7) What's your favorite RPG/Action RPG?
zelda, duh. it's not technically an RPG, but it's always grouped in anyway.
8) Do you prefer 2D games or 3D games?
3D, as long as the camera mechanics are good and follow your character without much manipulation.
9) Are you an SNK fan?
i guess not, since i have no idea what that is.
10) Are you good at DDR?
noes! i sucks at it! but i LOVE it, and am willing to wait to hunt down a resonably priced used game and pad.
11) Who wants to kick that dog's ass from Duck Hunt?
me. in't that what the laser gun is FOR?
12) Have you skipped out on important events in life because of video games?
nope. not that lame. i have faked illness in order to stay home from work and play. that would be when windwaker came out, i think.
13) Do you listen to video game music?
i had the ocarina of time soundtrack for a while, i wonder where that went. if anyone out there has the ocarina orchestral hylia symphony: WANT!
14) Have you ever cosplayed a VG character?
no, but i've recently aquired boots that make me yearn to pull together a link costume.
15) Have you ever been in an arcade playing a fighting game, KICKING ASS, and then some 6 year old Asian kid comes in and OWNS YOU??
don't play online. me no likey play with others. boo.
16) Name three games you would love to see remakes of if it was done properly.
the original silent hill. i love to watch others play it, but i can't play myself because i get freaked out and the controls are so wonky and stiff that i get flustered and stuck and ultimately eaten by mutants. and that tends to make my heart jump around and wet stuff come out of my eyeballs. other than that, i'd have them keep all as they are. part of the charm of my favorites is the graphics they came in.
17) Mario or Sonic?
eh. not wild about either.
18) When a movie shows up in the theaters, let's use Spider-man as an example, are you likely to buy the GAME version?
no. generally games based on movies are just made to cash in on the franchise and not for the fantastic gameplay. i mean, a few are good here and there (enter the matrix comes to mind) but most of them suck (x-men wolverine, anyone)?
19) What is your LEAST favorite genre of video games? (ex. fighting, sports, shooters, etc.)
probably shooters. i would say sports too, except that i really love quidditch world cup.
20) Is there a game out there that you feel was unique and didn't get enough love?
windwaker.
21) Have you ever verbally abused a game because you couldn't beat one of the levels and/or bosses?
oh dear, yes, i'm afraid most of my zeldas are scared by my namecalling. especially phantom hourglass.
22) Do you own any VG apparel?
no. got a couple action figures though.
23) What are your thoughts on the live-action Super Mario Bros movie?
i refuse. to watch it or to aknowledge its existence.
24) On that note, what did you think about the live-action Street Fighter movie?
i never saw it, but i hate that it's the last thing grand master raul julia ever did. such a waste of talent.
25) Who's hottest out of the KOF chicks?
uh...the one with the...big jugs?
26) Do you say "old-school" a lot when you're having a VG conversation with others?
not alot. but i think i must come up once or twice in any gaming convo.
27) Have you ever lent someone a game and they returned it to you damaged?
do you know any of my aquaintences that are maimed or scarred? no? then the answer is no.
28) Do you own any imported games?
no. although i did buy a few in korea and bring them back with me....so, kinda?
29) In this scenario, let's pretend you're going to get a video game tattoo! What would you get and where?
that's easy. it would be either a small triforce or hylian symbol, small, most likely on a shoulder or upper back. (although i'd love to get a one-triangle-glowing triforce on the back of my hand. yes. i'm that nerdy. but smart enough not to go through with it. and now that i thought of it and am terribly bored at work, i'm breaking out the markers....)
30) Have you ever cried after you beat a game? If so why?
no. i cried during majora's mask when it took me an entire afternoon to beat the goron level of the fierce diety trials. and i cried during the cave of ordeals in twilight princess where i came very close to being sent back to the start by three darknuts after two hours of enemy chambers. silent hill and eternal darkness made me cry enough that i couldn't really finish....i get a little emotionally involved sometimes....

[backstory: the game and pads were gifts from a friend and the game was actually a duplicate. same friend later gave me two really nice pads so I don't need the crappy ones. I offered these up to a friend in the cities, but she has not made an effort to claim them since October, so I say they're back up for grabs.]
