girly alert: shoes! ranty alert: weather!
May. 7th, 2010 12:25 pmi heard snow was coming, but i didn't believe it.
you know how i paid three rents last month, right? and we bought stuff for the apartment(s), and had to launder all our clotheses. on top of other bills. it was an expensive month. i wiped out my bank account. but how i hate writing checks, for i thought our new place had cashed our deposits. nope.
so when i dropped more money than i usually do on shoes a week or two ago, it put me in the hole. not to worry, as my bank gives me automatic loans when i overstep my bounds and i was able to repay it within 24 hours.
but still. these shoes put me in the hole. i knew that spring was approaching and i had no appropriate no-sock warm-weather shoes. and if i didn't get some, i was going to drop $100 on those danskos i saw and loved so much. better to find something cheaper and more practical.
but damn, i found out i needed much. my ankles are thick and my feet are little and my calves are huge and white. i needed something with a slight heel to lengthen the line. but not so much that i couldn't run in them. and the soles had to be soft so i could stand for periods of time without fatigue. nothing that would chafe bare feet. none of this slip-on business either. i don't like crunching up my toes to keep my shoes on, so there's gotta be an ankle strap. and why don't we cover up those toes? i never liked them much anyway. but they still have to breathe. and color is a factor; if i get one pair for the whole summer, they gotta match almost everything i own. they have to be nice enough to wear with dresses but sporty enough to wear with jeans or shorts. i'm hard to please.
and i found some. amazing. just when i was about to give up. they were twice what i normally pay for shoes, but worth it if they suited all my needs and i'm not buying any more for the year.
i go through all of that--the search and the expense--and now this. is it going to be one of those cold summers again? because i can't handle that much. i may have to go consult an oracle or something, because if we're having an assyrainycoldy summer, i might as well return these shoes and get my money back.
oh also? blah blah blah thank my lucky stars that the bedbug thing happened in spring so i could put all my coats and blankets in storage and not deal with them in the bags blah blah blah AND NOW ALL MY BLANKETS AND COATS ARE IN BAGS IN A STORAGE LOCKER, UNDER PILES OF MORE BAGS AND SHIT. i've been wearing button-up sweaters, one on top of the other in lieu of a coat. this = lame.
accio SPRING.
