coming to a theatre near me.
Apr. 7th, 2008 06:48 pmsome movies i'm looking forward to this year (in alphabetical order):
"the chronicles of narnia: prince caspian" may 16: i liked the first one and have good memories of seeing it with aho, and it's just a joy to see the trailers everywhere now.
"city of ember" october 10. much like "the ruins," i just want to see this because i read the book and want to see how it's done. but this one has the added draw of bill murray. plus, it's done by the people who gave us "monster house," and i believe they can do no wrong.
"the dark knight" july 18. 'nuff said.
"fanboys" ?: this film has been trying to get released for about a decade now. it's about a bunch of kids that try to break into starwars ranch and steal a copy of the script for the then upcoming episode one for a dying friend.
"get smart" june 20: because i am gay for the original series, steve carrell, and anne hatheway.
"the happening" june 13: because i'm the only m. night shymalan fan left in this world, even after the atrocity that was "lady in the water." hey. everyone gets one disaster in my book. plus. john leguizamo.
"harry potter and the half-blood prince" november 21: duh.
"indiana jones and the kingdom of the crystal skull" may 22: almost as holy a day as november 21 (see harry potter).
"iron man" may 2: not a big fan of the icon, but the trailers look damn good, and our boy robert is the perfect man for the job.
"speed racer" may 9: this is what my whole life has been leading up to. in I-fkn-MAX!
"star trek" december 25: j.j., maker of "lost" gives us young kirk and spock meeting at starfleet academy? what's not to geek out about?
"wall-e" june 27: i get the cute twinges every time i see that damn trailer. it hasn't worn off yet. i'm going to be a pile a goo at that opening night.
"wanted" june 27: i know nothing about this except james macavoy and morgan freeman are in it and it's about an assassin. that sounds like hotness and loveliness and fun.
"where the wild things are" october 3: spike jones directs. forrest whittaker attached. live action. there are pictuers. wanna see? http://www.firstshowing.net/2007/12/11/second-look-spike-jonzes-where-the-wild-things-are/
"young at heart" april 9: senior citizens sing the ramones. and all the rest. and it's not a gimmick. it's amazing.
and that's just the short list. of the ones i'll be attending opening night for.
