i don't like april fool's. it usually means me looking like a gullible noob where either someone points out a "mistake" i made and i have a heart attack, or someone promises something i want only to find out that it doesn't exist. it's only fun for the pranksters, and since i don't pull pranks on others, i don't have any fun.

that's why i like it when they make it funny and then pretty obvious. like gmail. or IGN's new movie:
http://movies.ign.com/articles/863/863492p1.html
(oh man! terrible! but they went so far as to put up a link at IMDB!!!)

i do have some birfdays to celebrate. fred and george weasley.

and this guy:

Photobucket

he's 12. i got him a glass waterbottle. shhh. don't tell.
...and i would like to announce three things.

1) for those of you who loved stiff: the curious lives of human cadavers:

mary roach has done it again!!!  some of you may have tried out her sophomore book, spook: science tackles the afterlife, and may have been disappointed.  i don't think she'll ever ever ever top stiff.  but.

she's just released a new one, and it's about another human-condition-curious subject we all know and love, and it's called

bonk: the curious coupling of science and sex.

i'm very excited.

2) some of you have been talking about bust magazine, and i've been curious.  when this month's issue came out with flight of the conchords on the cover, i was very curious.  then jodi poked at me and told me how much i'd love it.

well, yeah!  fk flight of the conchords...this issue's also got DAVID SEDARIS  and IRA GLASS.    color me sold.

3) this month's book for my book club is the executioner's tale by norman mailer, so i went to pick it up.  let it be said that the only reason i voted to read it is because it was the only one of the three offered that i hadn't read.  but if someone would have told me that the mass-market paperback was ONE THOUSAND AND FIFTY FKN PAGES LONG....geez us over kill.  i mean, at least it's a pulitzer winner, i tend to like them.  but.  fact:  i will never ever finish it in time, but i will try.
