oh my god yes. i live for gohome time.

You are the moment when the last bell rings and school lets out for the day. You are resistant to schedules and obligations, so you love feeling like you're in control of your life again. You are the very moment when the second hand hits the 12, and the halls fill with noise and motion. Even if your after-school time is packed with activities, lessons, or a job, somehow, you just feel freer in the late afternoon than you do earlier in the day. Maybe it's all that blue sky and afternoon sunshine? Nah -- even on rainy days, 3:15 is always a beautiful time.
i put the peacock tapestry down for a while to work on some other projects. but now i'm back at it. i've been amazed at how LONG the border takes to do, it's so amazingly detailed and adding the beads to any given section is a whole session in itself, as i don't have a beading needle and have to re-thread the needle 3 times for every bead (there are almost 400 in the entire piece). i finally finished the southeast corner last night during my survivor/lost thursday night ritual, so that makes the entire bottom edge of the border frame. it takes roughly two sittings to do each corner and about 12 sittings to get the frame piece finished. (a sitting being about 3 hours long, or until my elbow/wrist/neck/ass starts getting sore.)

and that's a short side. i am now starting up the righthand side, which is twice as long.

it's my goal to have it done (or on its last stitches) when i come to visit in march so i can show off to the SnBers and my folks. it's a project that's taken me YEARS to complete, and i'd like to get some attention for it!!! *^_^*

but damn. if that goal is going to happen, i need to put in some serious needle time. gabe's gounna LOVE that. *rolls eyes* tttbbbbbppppt.

but it's so pretty now, guys. it was lovely before, and then i put in all the backstitching and it was like, wow. i could frame this. and THEN came all the border work with it's diamond eyelets, gold accents, and bead work, and it's like a fkn faberge egg. (i'm totally keeping the pattern for the corner blocks and adjusting the colors to make christmas ornaments.)

i feel like harper lee. i'll never do something this good again.
(totally stolen from a friend.)

i should really look into learning more about makeup.

REVIEWS OF THE DUCHESS: PAPRIKA (dvd)

well. laurie was right...the music IS amazing. however, i have to give the glory to zac first, because he put the main song on his japanator pod cast months ago. i forgot that it was from this movie until i heard it in the film and then i was like, omg THIS song! after i heard it from zac, i went into a favorite shop here and the clerk was playing it. i asked him if he got it off of japanator and he said no, but what's that. hence, i gained a fan for zac.

god i need that song now.

ANYWAY. yeah, it was a good film. but as far as the madhouse films go, it's my least favorite. but. i've only seen the three, so it goes "millenium actress," "tokyo godfathers," and then "paprika." i like that satoshi kon enjoys a good mindfk, but it was more artfully (and comfortably) done in MA. "paprika" got a little to techie and convoluted for my tastes. it kind of bogged down in the whole DC-mini stuff.

i liked paprika herself, but would like to have seen more of her. she was the only character i liked. ah well.

i'm still giving it a four-star on my netflix ratings. but MA and TG get five.

a weird side note: megumi hayashibara and tooru furuya were the two main voices and they have an interview with them as an extra on the disk. it's always great to actually see megumi (she's my favorite anime voice actor all-time!), but i'd never seen tooru before. dude has some serious issues with plastic surgery. whoa. and he's played some of my favorite heart throbs...it was just...odd. i'm gounna have his liken-to-carrot-top mug in my head every time i see tuxedo mask now....

end review.

message to zac...

i'm FINALLY wading through the anime music you sent. holy. shit. THANK YOU.
