all. my. friends...

before the sickness, zoe was in town. i'm so fkn happy that she got in touch with me. we got to spend a sunday morning/early afternoon together wherin she took me to her favorite LA farmer's market, stocked with crossbreed fruits, live music, and chess tourneys. then it was breakfast at a diner and a stroll through some pretty walking streets.
it's very refreshing when someone from back home comes to visit, but zoe was the first visitor that was mine. and, even though i was struck down with a sickness for the week following, seeing her was a complete revitalization...in one way because it's physical proof that my friends are alive and well even if i can't see them every day and in another because zoe herself is so full of energy that you can't help but be brightened by it in her presence. it was a brilliant brilliant brilliant visit. and she was able to show me quite a few nice little places to visit and expand from. thanks, zoe.

so remember a few entries back when i wanted to go see kate nash but it's all sold out? yeah. kat swenson is a friend of mine in the cities...and even back back back in the waybacks of the masque days. i'm not COMPLETELY sure what her job is in the cities, but she works with the music touring industry there and has some pretty hefty connections.
she happened to be filled with drink one night and had a looksee on my lj. and there kat found my want of concert goings and she took pity on me.
it didn't end up working out, but she got in touch with a connection out here who went though some big hoops to try to get me in. apparently, the troubadour is a historic site (and only holds 300) and when there's a show there, it's a hard deal to make.
kate will come back someday. i WILL see her. but i'm amazed and happy that kat thought of me and went out of her way to help. it gave me warm fuzzies all day.

i just got the third franz ferdinand fanclub magazine in the mail last night, and it is BEAUTIFUL. she does "all the arty stuff" for the club, including the graphic designs for the membership cards, the jacket and label for the fanclub-released single, and the front cover of the mags. since franz is a big fan of the old russian propaganda artists like rodchenko, she gets to play around with some fun concepts.

it's all glossy and perty and i'm so proud of her work and if anybody out there needs a graphic artist (soon including a degree in design!!!!) please come talk to me and i will point you at her.

omi's a gal i've met through gabe. they're in "the program" together. she's funny, bright, and lucky as hell, as she just played a 70 point word against me in online scrabble. so, for all of you facebook pals who are playing against me, i may take a little break. i've gotten the Q in almost every game i've played and since i'm never the starter and not that bright, i'm losing to everyone. this latest blow makes me feel retarded every time i log into facebook. so, for those of you who are waiting for me to pick up on scrabulous, you have omi to blame. don't hate her because she's beautiful. hate me because i'm a terrible loser.
