rehashing a very tired argument.
Jun. 7th, 2006 12:03 pmi know this is a waste of energy and i've said all of this before. but i've
just finished reading a very irritating news clip and i'm behind in my quota
of cranky posts. grrr.
if the government exists to protect our rights to life, liberty, and
happiness...then i'm confused as to why gay marriage is such a fkn issue.
gay marriage does not threaten anyone's life. in fact, gay unions have
majorly helped prolong life. a new york study from last DECADE says that
more gays are committing to partners, and therefore, the spread of HIV has
been on serious decline. duh. the ones who are spreading it are the
junkies and paris hiltons of the world who share their blood and juices
indiscriminately.
gay marriage does not threaten anyone's liberty. i shouldn't even have to
put up an argument for this one. it's not like ian mckellan's going to
invade america and make everyone hump someone of the same gender once a day
against their will. the decision to legalize does not take freedom
away...it GIVES freedom, bitches.
gay marriage does not threaten anyone's happiness. and i don't want to hear
the televangelists tell me that it makes jesus unhappy. the government is
here to help US, not jesus. and i don't want to hear the conservos say that
it makes them unhappy. i know quite a few conservo marriages that make me
unhappy with their urban SUVs and quiet nazi viewpoints and their strings of
pearls. the argument cancels itself out. moot.
the government only cares about materialism and monetary issues. married
couples (of any bent) buy more, invest in houses and cars, have/adopt kids
that need medical care and create consumerism. to the government, we're not
gender; we're SSNs. so what's the problem? does it really matter which
pissparts go where? i mean, if a husband is hiding his porkloin in his
wife's fudge box, does it really matter to the government if that wife has a
taco or a schnitzel? it's all food.
so? what if we DO allow gay marriage? what have we got to lose? are all
the conservos going to get up and walk out of the country, thereby depleting
our military and workforce and income? no. they'll do what they do now:
cry over 9/11 and eat too much and enjoy monster trucks and privately bitch
about all the people that aren't just like them. they're too scared and
lazy to leave, and they know no one else would take them anyway. what the
hell is everyone afraid of? i'm confused.
i'm just completely sick of all of this. i haven't heard one fkn sane
argument against gay marriage yet.
