whose show is going to be awesome? *hand up*

these rehearsals are the best part of my day. and while i don't think that directing is easy by any means (tempests was a marathon and taught me that just remaining upright is an accomplishment in itself), this production is lulling me into a false sense of ease. the right people, the right timing, the right script, and just KNOWING how it all will shake down...and trusting that everyone will follow you on that ride...this one's pretty slick at the moment. i don't want to jinx myself and say that it will be a cakewalk, because it won't. i am keeping my guard up. i will remember to always look behind me. tech will be a big fat bitch full of rabies and raging hormones, and i have to remember that and make sure to prepare everyone for it as best i can.

which is why we started blocking transition shifts WITH regular blocking. because tracking props and set pieces can be made the least of my problems if we start now. those boys will have that shit down to a pretty little dance by tech. it will be gorgeous.

who is signed up to audition for wendy lehr? *hand up*

yes, it's a boring old chestnut, and yes it's at BCT. but i bit the bullet and got me an audition slot. who knows.

who is registered for fringe? *hand up* *faints*

somebody just posted a quote on FB and eff me for not remembering who posted it, who said it, or the exact words, but it was something like, "when it comes to the fringe, don't wait until you're ready." i read it AFTER i registered, and it actually made me feel a lot better. kept me from puking in my pants. okay, so i'm not really sure how to self-produce and i'm not really sure how to head this manner of project i want to do and i'm not really sure my guinea pigs will agree to go along with me (or how to find more). but i have to remember what i love most about the fringe: those productions that put their balls to the wall and allow themselves to either surprise themselves or fail spectacularly. and the thing that bores me most about the fringe: those productions that are so polished and easy that there is no edge to them whatsoever. it's the place for people to take a chance. it may be my turn.

here comes another amazing year of theatre. they seem to be building; every year with a new overall challenge. no fear. no fear. no fear. no fear. keep your eyes and ears open, turn your soft focus on, go where you are inspired, and move with purpose. begin.
