cats are weird. every cat, at once point or another, has been called a weird cat. but you know what? there are no "weird cats." they're all weird as a collective. really, they should just be referred to as "weird animals." weird can just join the cannon of "cleans itself" "has a tail" and "bears live young." it's a given.

sarah's gone to canada this week and mina is in my keeping. sarah says that mina vies for attention one of two ways when her human is gone:
1. the gets really affectionate with the remaining human, or
2. she gets naughty and chews/scratches stuff.

sarah did not tell me that there was a possibility of both of these things happening.

normally, mina wants nothing to do with me when sarah's around. or rather, she'd like to give that impression. but she's generally at the door waiting for me when i come home, and if she isn't, she comes stalking me. i give her loves and she pretends to hate it. but she comes to get some every time.

now that sarah's gone, mina is very confused. she's trying to reconcile "the human that bothers me" with "the only human i have available." it's a little hilarious. it starts by following me and wanting attention, and then skittering off if i acknowledge her. then she starts clawing the carpet or going after any and all plastic for chewtimes and if i'm all gruff and shooing her off, that's when she stands her ground and just keeps on a-chawing. she wouldn't sleep on my bed as she does sarah's, but she comes to walk all over me and headbutt me in my sleep. i've been told that headbutting means "pay attention to me and give me scratches." so here i am at 3 in the morning with a paw in my boob and a kitten head ramming my jaw and i'm all like, "whaaa???" and go to scratch her. the minute i move, whoosh. out the door.

cats are fked up.
