another halloween come and gone.
Nov. 2nd, 2007 09:32 pmhope y'all had a happy dia de los muertos and gave a good thought to anyone you may have lost this year... according to tradition, they came and had supper with you! (hope you had something good to eat!) *^_^*
we didn't do anything for halloween. we were invited to a few parties, but i've been so damn tired after work (first week exhaustion) and gabe is super-busy. i sent a card to my parents and ate some candy at work, but i hardly knew what day it was until my valet greeted me with "happy halloween, senorita!"
i saw a few people on my drive home walking their dogs. only the dogs were in costumes. there was a black widow spider dog (lab mix), a red and yellow godzilla dog (yorkie), and a sherlock holmes dog (jack russell terrier). and i thought, with the danger that is l.a. after sunset, that's all i would see.
i had to go down to the neighborhood western union to get a money order for rent, and since i don't like walking around after dark in my area (especially with hundreds of dollars in cash on my person), i made gabe come with me.
and all of a sudden, there were children everywhere. this is not something i expected. we live in a rougher area, and our street is all crappy businesses like sign makers and 99 cent stores and a club with live dancers. (there are some better places the other direction, but that's another post.) and they'd all opened their stores late to let kids in to trick-or-treat. apparently, this is how they do it in these parts...it's safer than going to houses around here. it was fun to see them in masses of spidermen and princesses with sneakers.
but honestly, i never would have guessed, because minneapolis is much friendlier and i never saw trick-or-treaters there. and how odd that costumes weren't covered by coats and there are no leaves on the ground? ah, california.
okay. here's a halloween meme i stole from aho.
( it's quite lengthy, save it for monday when you're bored at work. )
