bam ba-ba-ba-ba BAM.
Aug. 5th, 2010 11:47 ami got to ride on a segway today. i have now lived. i want one hard. but they are $6000. that's more than i paid for my car. i can't afford that. although i suppose i wouldn't have to pay for insurance or gas. i wonder if they make them with winter tread. as intuitive as they are, they do take some getting used to...i can totally see how GWBush fell off one. although i still count him a dullard for doing so. i mean, it's tricky, but most idiots could handle it. most.
FRINGE FEST STARTS TODAY! IT IS MY FAVORITE TIME OF YEAR!!! sadly, i won't be able to do much fringing due to shrew. but i'm okay with that. i'm really underwhelmed with the offerings this year and i have just enough time off rehearsals to see the handful of shows that i really care about. plus, i'm working on a show i'm in love with, so it's a nice consolation.
AMBER'S SHORT LIST OF FRINGE SHOWS
*a sad carousel--i can honestly say if i only get to see one show this fringe (and that might be the case), this is far and beyond my choice. i love the pommelhorse boys and i believe this show has the potential to steal every heart with a button this year.
*the damn audition--i've heard really really really good things. i have my sources.
*O(h)--i always see one dance show per fringe, and casebolt and smith rocked my world so hard last year that i will fight tigers to see them again.
*in the weeds--i have a soft spot for most of the people involved in this. i heard good things about the initial run and missed it.
*st. christopher of financial aid--first of all, chris is a company member. secondly, he's an artist that has never ever bored me. thirdly, he rocks a one-man show.
*taiko bam!--i like taiko drums.
*you are not paris--jon ferguson is involved. and a bunch of young performers. it's a bring your own venue show that takes place in a mental clinic. that's all i need to know.
and that's it. to be perfectly honest, i think it's for sure the first three and then the rest if i can fit them in. a lot of it has to do with my rehearsal schedule and the fact that i get to take care of the best dog in the universe during that week and will want playtime with him. *squeeeeee*
it's funny to think that this time last year i was gearing up for performances. what a great experience. it was an amazing show with a great group of people--some of whom have become huge personal favorites. we were the face of the fringe and an audience favorite. not only was it my first experience performing in the fringe, it was my first stage project on my return to minnesota. and for that, i will always be thankful for it.
