please don't take my sunshine away.
Jan. 27th, 2008 10:38 amit's supposed to rain again today. that's 7 straight days. i realize that it's bitter and cold back home, and i never really had a problem with being outside and walking to work in blizzards. after all, walking keeps you warm and the snow is pretty. but at least you don't get wet-wet. i would actually drive to work and pay the parking rates when it was raining. being out in the rain is so much more miserable than being out in the snow. (better for driving though, i guess.)
this city isn't equipped to handle a lot of things, and one of them is massive amounts of water falling from the sky. last night, as we came out of a party and walked to the car, we suddenly heard a huge squelching noise beside us in the dark. and then we saw that it was a storm sewer...vomiting out water as it had just been filled to the brim.
but, at least it clears out the air.
yesterday, i had to go to my least favorite location on earth--the rimpau station post office--and deal with the fkery there. but the door is pointed north, and when i stepped out, in a rare moment of no-rain-and-sunshine, all i saw before me were palm trees in the sun. and beyond that, snow-covered mountains. and that was enough to wash away the irritation of the post office and the 5 previous days of rain.
but now i'm back to wanting the sun. according to the reports, i've got another week to go....
