why do you always have to get killed in plays?are there really so many people getting killed in plays that you can't play someone who lives?oh well.
me:
i've thought about it, and it's a type. it's going to sound egotistical, but in order to hit an audience hard with a death/leaving/tragedy, the actor has to be someone totally likable and worthy of sympathy. it's actually a quality. and apparently i have it, because i get those roles a lot. not just here. i've died onstage, offstage, been carried on biers, raped, burned alive, drowned, died of consumption, died of cholera, shot, stabbed, strangled, electrocuted, had my dead body scuffled over in a swordfight, and been rolled over by a gigantic peach. okay. that last one had nothing to do with being sympathetic. but it was a fun death nonetheless.
